KNOLLWOOD VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

This list is general and does not include specific tasks given in each category. Volunteers must be 13 years of age or older unless accompanied by an adult. Hours are available Monday-Thursday 10 a.m.-7 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Weekends 10 a.m.-5 p.m. There are two types of services for volunteers: direct and support services. We are also open to suggestions, depending on the volunteer’s interests, talents and abilities.

Direct Services

  • Escorting Residents to/from program areas
  • Assisting and/or facilitating activities (table games, bingo, cards, socials, small groups, sports games, exercise, trivia, art & craft projects, puzzles, etc. within the facility)
  • Provide assistance with parties and social events
  • Assist on bus outings to lunch, movies, museums and other destinations.
  • Provide musical entertainment (play instrument, sing, lead sing along)
  • Provide/assist with manicures
  • Leading small groups/2-6 residents (reading, discussions, reminisce, word games, cards, focus groups, arts & crafts, story teller, current events, reminisce, ball toss, table top bowling, crossword/jigsaw puzzles, outdoor walks, etc.)
  • Provide one to one visits, sensory, crochet, games, art, reading poetry/stories, mail delivery, assisting with menu selection, manicures, outdoor walks, etc.
  • Adopt a resident & provide ongoing correspondence or conversation via phone calls on a regular basis.
  • Assist Activity staff with display cooking in the country kitchen
  • Pet Visits with small group or individual residents

Support Services

  • Cleaning equipment and supplies (sanitizing exercise equipment, bingo, etc.)
  • Organizing program supplies
  • Assist in unit holiday and party decorating
  • Help with garden grooming (indoor & outdoor)
  • Display monthly calendars in resident’s room/display community calendar
  • Monthly participation logs
  • Create Jeopardy games
  • Room to Room Book/courtesy cart
  • Clean bird cages (SCC & HSC)
  • Design and assist with individual resident Memory Boxes
  • Design Posters and flyers for various occasions
