The Army Distaff Foundation

Leaders in Healthy Aging

The Army Distaff Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 1959 that built, owns, and operates Knollwood Military Retirement Community.

At Knollwood, we provide community, companionship, and innovative health and wellness programs to residents regardless of their financial status. Further, we are thought leaders on a mission to help other life plan communities improve their programs by identifying, applying, evaluating, and sharing new and innovative approaches in healthy aging.

Knollwood

For 60 years, we have been delivering cutting-edge housing, health, and wellness programs at Knollwood Military Retirement Community in Washington, DC. We care for 300 people, including veterans of World War II, Korea, and the Vietnam War.

About 10% of our residents lack the means to pay— because of donor support to our Financial Assistance Fund, they will always have a home at Knollwood.
