Camaraderie Classic Golf Tournament
Over 100 golfers attended our annual Camaraderie Classic Golf Tournament on June 10, 2019 at the Army Navy Country Club in Arlington, Virginia.
The event, which benefitted both the Army Distaff Foundation and Homes For Our Troops, raised resources to help veterans in need of secure, safe housing and specialized health services.
We hope to see you at our 2020 event!
World’s Most Advanced Social Robot
Knollwood is the primary global test site for a research project that will produce what aims to be the world’s most advanced social robot. Socially Assistive Robots have great potential to improve quality of life for residents in life plan communities. We have partnered with a leading international robotics research group from Trinity College Dublin on a pioneering study to determine the impact and benefits to older adults. Pioneering Use of Exoskeleton Therapy
Knollwood is the first and only life plan community to offer cutting-edge exoskeleton therapy as part of an in-house physical therapy program. In February 2018, we began pilot testing use of the EksoGTTM robotic exoskeleton to help maintain mobility and physical strength in older adults to support their independence and enhance their quality of life. According to our pilot test, EksoGTTMtherapy improves gait, balance, strength, and mobility better than traditional physical therapy. Click here to read more and be sure to watch our video. Cutting-Edge Fall Prevention Technology
Knollwood is the first and only life plan community in the United States to leverage a new cutting-edge technology to prevent falls, the leading cause of injury for people over age 65. The fall prevention device, installed in half of our assisted living units, uses advanced detection, monitoring, and reporting capabilities to help prevent residents from falling, particularly at night. General Dynamics Supports Knollwood Residents
General Dynamics, an important charitable partner of the Army Distaff Foundation, donated 24 orchestra-level tickets to a production at Ford’s Theater of Stephen Sondheim’s “Into the Woods.” The tickets benefited residents of Knollwood Military Retirement Community, operated by the Army Distaff Foundation. General Dynamics’ generous donation gave those who served and their loved ones a rare opportunity to enjoy the theater at a historic venue.
